The role of social media is in the spotlight after the terrible events last Friday.

To raise these issues so everyone can take part in the discussion, the Better Public Media Trust is holding a public meeting this Sunday at Undercroft 101 in the University of Canterbury, Ilam Campus.

What should be the future of social media?
What’s about NZ’s public media?

Speakers include Dr Peter Thompson, Sir Bob Parker, Julian Wilcox, Ali Jones, Donald Matheson and the public.
When: Sunday 24th March from 1pm to 3.30pm
Where: Undercroft 101, University of Canterbury, Ilam Campus.

1.00pm – Dr Peter Thompson to deliver the David Beatson Memorial Speech

1.20pm – Prize-giving for the BPM Student Challenge

1.30pm – Panel discussion with:
Sir Bob Parker – ex-Mayor and ex-Broadcaster
Julian Wilcox – ex-Broadcaster
Ali Jones – PR and Journalist
Donald Matheson – Assoc. Professor at University of Canterbury

2.30pm – Better Public Media AGM (members only)
Note: Previously the Hon. Kris Faafoi, Minister of Broadcasting, Communications and Digital Media was to deliver the keynote speech but has pulled out due to the terrorist attack.
