Sunday 22 to Tuesday 24 July, Blenheim

Beekeepers, packers, processors, and affiliated businesses from the apiculture industry are gearing up for the Apiculture New Zealand National Conference and Trade Exhibition, opening next Sunday, 22 July in Blenheim.

The three-day conference is filled with presentations and workshops from apiculture experts all over New Zealand and the world. International keynote speakers include Sue Cobey, David Mendes, and Alisha Taff, who are all travelling from the United States to speak to Kiwi delegates. The Mayor of Marlborough, John Legget, will open the conference, alongside Apiculture New Zealand Chairman, Bruce Wills on Sunday 22 July. The Minister of Agriculture & Biosecurity, Hon Damien O’Connor, will address Conference on Monday 23 July at 8:30 am.

A wide range of topics and workshops are included in this year’s line up covering traceability from hive to the honey jar, challenges of bee breeding, bee nutrition, to organic beekeeping and how New Zealand honey is presented on the global stage. There will also be presentations from the Ministry of Primary Industries including a government perspective on honey in New Zealand and overseas. Pest and disease management and a strong science programme will also feature at conference.
