Largest apiculture gathering in New Zealand set to attract hundreds

Apiculture New Zealand is pleased to present our 2018 National Conference & Trade Exhibition, which will be hosted in Blenheim at the Marlborough Convention Centre from 22 – 24 July 2018.

This year’s conference will focus on Sustainability and Traceability, with a jam-packed programme to inspire and educate from all aspects of the apiculture industry.

The Minister of Agriculture, Hon Damien O’Connor, will be opening our 2018 conference, kicking off three days of presentations and workshops suitable for all beekeepers, commercial and non-commercial, packers, exporters, and the wider supply network.

International keynote speakers include Sue Cobey, David Mendes, and Alisha Taff, who are travelling from the United States to share their beekeeping knowledge and experience with Kiwi delegates. Topics covered by these speakers include honey bee breeding and instrumental insemination, crop pollination and honey production, and organic beekeeping.

Local expert speakers include leading apiculture professionals from all over New Zealand. You can view the full programme for Conference 2018 here, with their bio details here.

An annual highlight of ApiNZ’s National Conference & Trade Exhibition is the range of competitions and awards created to showcase the efforts and talents of people in our industry.

This year’s programme includes updates from MPI on the mānuka honey definition, and biosecurity discussions focused on the Giant Willow Aphid, Varroa mite, and American Foulbrood.
