New Zealand brands take on Chinese trade event

New Zealand natural oral care brand, Grin Natural Products, joins local brands to promote New Zealand products to Chinese customers.

On May 4, Grin will host a seminar in Auckland alongside Linden Leaves, MitoQ, Artemis and Clinicians for around 80 local Chinese trade customers.

Grin Marketing Executive, Olivia Sherrell says, “We have joined forces with other health and wellbeing brands that recognise and value the importance of the Chinese market. Although worthwhile, China can be a tough market for small New Zealand businesses to enter as the costs of marketing in China are very high. We are also facing a lot of competition from Australian brands that are entering the Chinese market. As a result, word of mouth becomes incredibly important and we believe this starts here in New Zealand with the local Chinese community.”

Local Chinese trade customers send about 99% off their orders to mainland China and for some stores this is equivalent to $2.5 million per month. They have significant networks in China that we can use to promote our products through says Grin Sales Manager, Leo Liu.

The seminar invites each participating brand to give a presentation to educate Chinese trade customers on their brand followed by an informal meet and greet.

Sherrell says the local Chinese trade customers will share photos and promote the brands and products at the event through their WeChat channels to their local DaiGou customers and their many customers in China.

Grin anticipates that over 10,000 tubes of Grin toothpaste will be sold within 24 hours of the event.
