Federated Farmers has not only uprated its 2014 Fieldays presence with a site in the feature pavilion but will hold the final meeting of its current Board in Hamilton ahead of Fieldays.

“Federated Farmers will make Hamilton, or should I say, Megatron, as its base for Fieldays week,” says Bruce Wills, Federated Farmers President, who retires from the role in July.

“As this is my final Fieldays as National President, I am pleased to say we are making our largest ever investment into our Fieldays site.

“To be precise, Federated Farmers is at site PF18 within the Premier Feature.

“We’d like to thank our very good friends at FMG as they’ve helped us at this event and other Field Days this year. So make sure you visit FMG at E34-E36 along with Westpac (D86-D88) and Vodafone at E50/M24-M26

“I can add that we will have our Board members there, members of the Waikato provincial executive as well as our Field Team and local policy staff. We even have Fieldays offers.

“By then, people will know the name of the person who will succeed Conor English as our Chief Executive Officer. You could say 2014 is a year for renewal.

“I am pleased to say AgRecovery will be represented on our site because we’re keen to showcase the real environmental work farmers are doing.

“Of course, we will be showing our suite of industry standard packs for employment, occupational health and safety as well as our array of farming agreements.

“While we’ll get plenty of members seeing us, I’d like to invite non-members to take a second look. Being part of the Federation is great for business since we’ve got some good runs on the board at all levels of policy advocacy.

“We’ve also got a General Election this year and the primary industries can stand tall because they are the reason New Zealand’s terms of trade are the best in 40 years.

“While we will have blips the trend line to food production makes New Zealand the true lucky country and that’s the message our politicians need to take away from us and Fieldays. It’s also why we need farmers on the Federated Farmers team.

“Given we are forming our policy around things like Resource Rentals, the ETS and a Capital Gains Tax, I’d like farmer feedback ahead of its release next month at our National Conference.

“See you at site PF18,” Mr Wills concluded.
