Labour Should Hit the Brakes on Motorhome Tax

15 APRIL 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Responding to the Ministry of Transport analysis of Labour’s new policy for taxing motorhomes, suggesting that motorhome owners would end up paying more for Road User Charges than they do today, Jordan Williams, Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Union says:

“New Zealanders are already taxed enough. Motorhome owners should not be singled out with changes that would result in an even heavier tax burden.”

“We welcome Labour’s policy of dropping registrations for light trailers and caravans, but dropping one tax only to beef up another doesn’t ease the pain on the travelling public.”
