The Palmerston North man hit by a train this morning has been identified as Giles Sharp.

Police are investigating Mr Sharp’s death after the 39 year old was hit by a train in Palmerston North this morning.

Emergency services were called to the Matthews Ave train station at about 6.20am this morning after Mr Sharp was trapped under a train.

Police believe he had been previously hit by the Palmerston North to Longburn train at about 11pm last night.
