Spicers announces important new board appointments to support New Zealand’s leading investment advice business
Spicers Portfolio Management (Spicers) announces the appointment of entrepreneur, Sharon Hunter, and investment banker, Lance Jenkins, as Non-Executive Directors. These appointments complement wider changes in the business designed to enhance its ability to deliver highly specialised investment planning.
“We are delighted to welcome Sharon Hunter and Lance Jenkins to the Spicers Board, who each bring substantial experience in investment planning and growing businesses. These high calibre appointments reflect both Spicers’ 25-year track record and its positioning for the future,” said Blair Vernon, Chairman, Spicers, and AMP’s General Manager, Marketing and Customer Sales.
As part of the AMP Group (following AMP’s merger with AXA), Spicers has access to AMP’s more than 150 years’ worth of experience and expertise and wide range of investment options. In addition, Spicers is subject to the same rigorous standards of governance and accountability as all AMP entities.
Spicers offers tailored investment solutions and highly personalised service enabled by a nationwide network of advisers. As well as its Qualifying Financial Entity (QFE) status, all Spicers’ advisers are Authorised Financial Advisers (AFAs) ensuring strong accountability for advice.
Recently appointed Managing Director of Spicers, Chris White, brings specialist expertise and experience in managing people and change, which is critical to driving future service improvements following a strategic review of the business to position Spicers for ongoing success as a leading wealth manager.
Commenting on his appointment to the Board, Lance Jenkins said: “I welcome the opportunity to contribute to Spicers, which has new opportunities as part of the AMP Group to build on its proven and trusted reputation in wealth management.”
“I am very selective about the governance roles I accept. Spicers is an already successful business that is in the process of further refinement, which is an exciting journey to be on,” said Sharon Hunter.
Spicers has been recognised as a consistent performer by independent financial commentator, The Mercer Report.
“With our enhanced governance and management team in place, we’re very excited about building on this track record,” said Blair Vernon.
