Giesen Estate Riesling 2012 wins more plaudits

Giesen Estate Riesling 2012 continues to win accolades, this time at the Sydney International Wine Show2013.

The highly acclaimed wine was named “Best Aromatic of Competition,” thethird time it has won the trophy – previously 2000 and 2003.

Among its other credits, the Riesling 2012 has also been named Champion Riesling at the Spiegelau International Wine competition, won gold at the New Zealand Wine Show, was rated five stars by Cuisine and also listed in the magazine’s top 10 Rieslings.

Andrew Blake, winemaker at Giesen Wines, said the Riesling 2012 was a blend from 10 vineyards mainly located in the Waihopai, Hawkesbury and Dog Point areas of Marlborough.

In line with the highly successful 2011 Estate Riesling, the wine is a medium sweet style.

“The palate has a succulent sweetness and intensity, reminiscent of lemon curd combined with the vibrant flavours of mandarin. “
