Christchurch Stadium Trust Announces New AMI Stadium Sponsors

The Trustees of the Christchurch Stadium Trust are pleased to announce their exciting future partnership with two new sponsors – City Care and Miles Toyota. They join the anchor sponsor AMI Insurance and the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust as the stadium’s principal commercial partners.

The ‘north stand’ at AMI Stadium, which seats nearly 6,000 spectators and offers corporate hospitality for 555 guests across 13 corporate suites, will be named the City Care Stand for the next four years.

City Care CEO Onno Mulder said the company was delighted to secure the sponsorship, and that the relationship was a natural fit for the two iconic Christchurch organisations.

“City Care has maintained Canterbury’s recreational spaces for many years, so we’re very pleased to be able to support the Stadium Trust in providing this great facility for the people of Christchurch. The region has been through a lot in the past two years, and the people of Christchurch deserve every opportunity to resume their normal activities. Providing a quality venue like the stadium, where they can come to experience a variety of events and support their home teams, is a big part of the recovery process. City Care was a highly-visible frontline presence during the earthquake emergency response phase, and we’ve been heavily involved in the ongoing infrastructure repair and rebuild work ever since. This sponsorship reinforces our investment in the future of the city,” said Mulder.

Miles Toyota has agreed to sponsor the covered ‘south stand’ which seats a slightly larger number of spectators and hosts team coaches and the media. It will now be called the Miles Toyota Stand.

Miles Toyota CEO André Heyns said today that Miles Toyota is absolutely delighted to take up the opportunity to partner with the Christchurch Stadium Trust and to support the wider community of Canterbury in bringing world class sporting events, concerts and community events to Christchurch.

“The Christchurch Stadium Trust did an amazing job in getting the new stadium constructed in such a short space of time and it was an easy decision to want to align ourselves with such a community focussed organisation. Miles Toyota is an active supporter of various community organisations and events in Christchurch and we are fully aware of the impact and pressure that the earthquakes placed on facilities and resources. No one in Christchurch has come through the past two years’ events unscathed and as a business we want to show our commitment to Christchurch and to the rebuild efforts. The timing of our sponsorship also happens to coincide with Toyota celebrating 25 years of being the number one selling car brand in New Zealand and so this is a perfect opportunity to thank our loyal customer base here in Canterbury”, said Heyns.

The Stadium Trust would also like to take the opportunity to thank Fahey Fence Hire for its sponsorship of fencing used at AMI Stadium on game day. “As any Cantabrian will tell you, when it comes to rugby and our beautiful city, we are very passionate. So when the opportunity arose to be able to provide sponsorship to two things so close to our hearts, we couldn’t say no”, said Director Mark Quinn.

Christchurch Stadium Trust Chairman, Hon Jim Anderton, welcomed the new sponsors, saying, “the Trust Board is thrilled that City Care, Miles Toyota and Fahey Fence Hire are prepared to be key supporters of such an important facility which provides Cantabrians with the opportunity to share in and enjoy the region’s sporting excellence. We’ve just hosted a very successful Nitro Circus event and we look forward to some excellent Super Rugby fixtures and the much anticipated All Black test match against France on the 15th of June”.
