This week, Waatea News Editor Dave Kaire graces us with his presence, and we present a Waitangi Wrap Special

Saturday 09 February 2013 12:00 – Waireti Walters, Pita Paraone – Waitangi Day 2013

Dave talks with Ngapuhi kuia Waireti Walters about the role that wahine should be fulfilling at Waitangi during Waitangi Day celebrations, and would the furore around who should be escorting main dignitaries onto Te Tii marae, have eventuated if wahine were indeed in charge.
Pita Paraone – Chairman of Treaty of Waitangi Grounds, Chairman of Waitangi Day – Operations
Minister of Maori Development Pita Sharples raised some eyebrows when he suggested to move the celebrations to the upper marae to stop the protests and all the disruptions. Dave talks with Waitangi marae chairman Pita Paraone about this.
Sunday 10 February 2013 12:00 – Ngawai Herewini, Hone Sadler – Waitangi Day 2013

Ngawai Herewini – Broadcaster of Te Hiku Media

Maori television has copped some flak over their coverage of the celebrations at Waitangi from the likes of Titewhai and Hone Harawira. They’re both accusing the channel of following mainstream medias focus on just the negative aspects of the day.
Ngawai Herewini, who has been part of iwi stations coverage of each Waitangi Day gives her view, along with an eye witness account of the things we never saw or heard at Waitangi.

Hone Sadler – Ngapuhi Academic
And finally, Hone Sadler wraps this year’s Waitangi Day. The highs, the lows, the ups and downs of what was Waitangi Day 2013.

Korero Mai Ki Ahau a half hour features programme every Saturday and Sunday from noon, which takes an in – depth look at issues affecting te ao Maori. Totally in te reo Maori brought to you by Waatea News in association with Te Mangai Paho.
