4 December 2012 – Hawke’s Bay lines company Unison Networks Ltd has this week launched a promotion with Farmlands as part of its annual safety campaign, reminding the public to be wary of electricity when working outdoors.
The ‘how many reminders do you need’ campaign is part of Unison’s focus on public safety, using post-it notes as reminders to be aware of buried and overhead power cables.
Unison Group CEO Ken Sutherland said educating the public on staying safe around assets was a high priority for the Company, particularly given the risk of fatality.
“Unison performs research annually to assess public awareness around electrical safety, and based on the findings, we have targeted our campaign towards these groups, along with those working near electricity such as rural landowners, farmers and home DIYers.”
Along with billboard, radio and internet advertising, Unison is also hoping to educate customers through a display and competition to win $500 free power with their chosen retailer, hosted by Farmlands branches in Hastings and Napier.
Noel Houston, Branch Manager of Hastings’ Farmlands store said the promotion was a natural fit with the Company.
“Farmlands shoppers include those identified by Unison as most in need of safety education, and as a Company we also care about the wellbeing of our customers, so it made perfect sense to host the promotion on behalf of Unison.”
Customers are invited to bring their children to the Napier Farmlands store between 10-12pm Saturday morning to enjoy a BBQ provided by Newstalk ZB, with Powerman on hand to entertain children with giveaways. Customers can enter the $500 free power draw by guessing how many ‘reminders’ are on the in-store display.
