“Pure Gold for a Pure Wine”
Rapaura Springs has taken Pure Gold for a pure wine at New Zealand’s premiere wine competition.

The gold awarded the 2012 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc at the Air New Zealand Wine awards is the latest win in a golden run for the company, which has won 14 gold medals and two trophies in the past 11 months.

Owner Brendon Neylon said winning Pure Gold for Rapaura Springs’ flagship wine was wonderful recognition for a sauvignon created to showcase the best of the company’s Marlborough vineyards.

“The Pure medals acknowledge award-winning wines that are 100 percent sustainably grown and produced. We feel this is Pure Gold for a pure wine, which reflects the land it was grown on, and the pure waters that flow from the Rapaura Springs, at the heart of our vineyards.”

Sam Kim of Wine Orbit gave the wine five stars and 94 points, calling it a beautifully structured sauvignon. “It’s concentrated and lively on the palate with excellent focus and a fabulous long finish,” he wrote.

The same wine took gold at the International Aromatic Wine Competition last month, and has been in hot demand by retailers and distributors in the company’s key markets.

The Rapaura Springs 2012 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc will be launched nationwide in Australia during December and will be exclusive to Vintage Cellars and First Choice, retailing for $22.

Rapaura Springs has also had a stellar year for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, along with its Sauvignon Blanc.

Mr Neylon said Rapaura Springs was focused on creating premium wines that reflect the iconic land they come from.

“We want the grapes to tell their own story, with just a little nudge in the right direction from our talented and experienced viticulture and winemaking teams.”
