Deloitte Fast 50 programme wins AUT Excellence in Business Support Award
The Deloitte Fast 50 has been named winner of the IMAGEPRINT Large Business Specific Offering category at the prestigious AUT Excellence in Business Support Awards.
At a gala dinner last night at the Langham Hotel hosted by the AUT Business School, winners across 13 categories, including the Supreme Winner Award, were announced to an audience of over 700 business leaders. This year saw a total of 47 finalists – the highest in the award’s seven-year history.
Deloitte’s Auckland Fast 50 leader Darren Johnson was delighted to accept the award and said, “It’s a great honour to be standing here in front of a crowd full of people who help people…who ultimately help grow New Zealand – and that’s what it is all about really. This award means the world to our Deloitte Fast 50 team members. There are about 100 of us nationwide who are part of the programme and we work with a range of businesses that have shown the courage, ambition and leadership to take risks and triumph over challenges to grow their company’s…sometimes phenomenally!”
“Every year the Deloitte Fast 50 programme gives Kiwi businesses the opportunity to share their unique growth stories on a national stage and benchmark against other peers. We’re extremely proud that over the last 12 years the Fast 50 has unearthed some of the biggest names in Kiwi business,” he added.
Johnson also paid tribute to Matt McKendry who has been the National leader of the Deloitte Fast 50 for the past six years saying “Matt has evolved the programme and brand to such an extent that is now one of our flagship connectors and one we believe and hope is a highlight on the calendar for any young growing business. As you can imagine, we are all chuffed to receive this award.”
Dean of AUT Business School Dr Geoff Perry says all 47 finalists have shown tremendous dedication to business support across New Zealand.
“The quality of products and services being offered by all of this year’s finalists is highly encouraging for the growth of the New Zealand economy. Every finalist has had to demonstrate their successful leadership and planning, customer and market focus, provision of business support, evaluation, improvement and business results. All entries go through a thorough evaluation process that is overseen by the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation, as well as evaluators from our own Management Department at AUT Business School, and assessed using the international Baldrige criteria. With this in mind, the winners really have demonstrated they are top of their game.”
“I wish to congratulate all of this year’s winners for their outstanding success and support of New Zealand business,” says Dr Perry.
The AUT Excellence in Business Support Awards gala dinner was also the first ever Be. Accessible accredited event in New Zealand. Be. Accessible provides businesses with programmes that ensure they are more accessible to all audiences.
Sarah Trotman, Founder of the Excellence in Business Support Awards and Director of Business Relations at AUT Business School says, “The Business School is committed to educating future business leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs who understand the social and economic value of accessibility.”
AUT Business School took ownership of the Excellence in Business Support Awards earlier this year. Dr Perry says as a Business School, it’s important for AUT to celebrate the businesses that contribute to New Zealand’s economic development, so that together, they can continue to add value to the changing world of business.
