“Will our bedroom TV need a set-top box – can
you run several televisions off the same set top box?” were
the two top questions asked at the Hawke’s Bay Show Going
Digital stand this year.

Hawke’s Bay’s Going Digital
Community Adviser Murray Sawyer said, “the answer is yes for
the bedroom TV needing a set-top box. Every TV, be it in the
lounge, the bedroom or the garage needs to go
digital.”

“Any television or video recorder with an
analogue tuner must have a set-top box to receive digital
TV. People can still watch their videos and DVDs but without
a set-top box the devise will not receive or record digital
TV. If recording is important to you, you may find it more
convenient to consider a digital personal video recorder
which also acts as a set top box for your TV.”

Hawke’s Bay
viewers have until 30 September 2012 to make the change to
their analogue television or recorder. “My message to
everyone is that if you do nothing you will see nothing
after next September,” Mr. Sawyer said.
