Wellington CIB are continuing to investigate an attempted robbery of a Kilbirnie superette on Sunday night (24 July 2011).
Detective Sergeant Mark Scott says at around 6:15pm a man entered the G&S Superette at 155 Onepu Rd, Kilbirnie and demanded money, threatening a staff member. No money was obtained but a small amount of tobacco was stolen.
“After grabbing some tobacco, the offender then ran from the store north along Onepu Road then into Wha Street.”
Detective Sergeant Scott says a man and a woman then entered the shop shortly after this incident. The woman was described as wearing a bright jacket which was coloured pink or red and had blonde hair.
“We would really like to speak to this couple to ascertain what they saw and we urge them to contact us.”
The offender is described as Caucasian, between 172 – 178 centimetres in height, of medium to solid build. He was wearing a black scarf across his face, a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and a black beanie underneath.
