Commerce Minister Simon Power today announced the reappointment of Dr Robin Pratt as Chair of the Testing Laboratory Registration Council.
Dr Pratt’s second term of three years starts on May 1.
“I am pleased Dr Pratt has accepted this reappointment,” Mr Power said.
“He has successfully presided over the restructuring of the organisation, while maintaining a zero fee increase.
“The council continues to benefit from his skills and knowledge, and I’m confident he will capably lead it as it as it faces structural changes proposed through the Standards and Accreditation Bill.”
Background
Dr Robin Pratt was trained as a chemical pathologist and was previously a Telarc technical assessor. He is managing director of Feronia Ltd. His previous roles include Chief Executive of Ngāi Tahu Holdings Group and Chair of its five subsidiaries (2002-2006), Chief Executive of the New Zealand Blood Service (1998-2002), and Chief Operating Officer of MedLab (1993-1996). He is currently a director on the board of Landcare Research Ltd, and the Christchurch Women’s Refuge.
The Testing Laboratory Registration Council is one of New Zealand’s five standards and conformity assessment infrastructure bodies, responsible for accrediting testing and calibration laboratories and inspection bodies.
